AnimeSoc Elections Reminder and All-Nighter!

Post by Welix92 » Fri Feb 03, 2012 2:49 pm

Hi All!

*** Exec Elections ***
Just a quick reminder about the exec elections happening next Tuesday at our weekly viewing. As mentioned in the last update, the positions that you will be able to run (and obviously vote) for will be:

President
Secretary
Treasurer
Librarian (3 of these)
Publicity Officer

If you want to run for any of these positions, make sure to prepare a short 1-2 minute speech about why you would be suited for the position and what experiences you could bring to the the job. To get a representative vote for the society, it would be great if everyone who wants a say in how the society might be run in the future could turn up on Tuesday for some democracy.

Good luck to all the candidates!

*** All-Nighter ***
We've been asked a few times now, and finally there's an update on this term's first all-nighter! Going against convention, our main focus this time around will not be a movie or particular series, but instead an anime studio. Our pick for this all-nighter is going to be JC Staff, the likes of which have brought us "Revolutionary Girl Utena", "Nodame Cantabile" and "Toradora!"

It'll be a great opportunity to get a more detailed insight into the works of a particular studio, though of course the usual all-nighter conventions still stand! If you have a suggestion or something you want to share with the society, make sure to bring it along - chances are there will be opportunities to watch it. On top, the obligatory pizza order will supply the necessary energy for a night of anime!

In short:

All-Nighter: JC Staff
Date: Friday, 17 February 2012 (week 6)
Room: B2.02

***************

That was all for updates this week, see you all on Tuesday!

AnimeSoc Elections in Week 5

Post by Welix92 » Wed Jan 25, 2012 11:28 am

Hi all!

As promised, here comes the update on the exec elections to be held in our Tuesday gathering in week 5! Essentially all society jobs are up for grabs which means that you can run for a variety of positions. These include:

President
Secretary
Treasurer
Librarian (3 of these)
Publicity Officer

If you are up for running for one of these positions, it would be great to see you at the elections in week 5! If you do wish to stand for election, please make sure to prepare a 1-2 minute speech on why you would be suited for the job, what experiences you could bring to the society and just generally what would make you a good <insert position here>. It's also a good idea to register your interest in running for an exec position by emailing us at exec@animesoc.co.uk (though this is not a strict requirement), just so we can get an idea of how much time we will need to plan for the elections.

Additionally, we're also looking for a webmaster who might blast some life into our website (www.animesoc.co.uk)! Because of the requirement for web design skills however, this will not be a democratically elected position. If you are interested in doing something for the AnimeSoc website, please talk to one of our execs at our Tuesday meetings and we will take it from there!

Well, that is all for this week, and see you on Tuesday in week 4!

AnimeSoc Update

Post by Welix92 » Thu Jan 12, 2012 9:32 am

Hi everyone!

Welcome back to a new term at Warwick, hopefully you've all spent a great Christmas (and maybe even watched the occasional anime)!

Just to reiterate, and for those of you who weren't able to come on Tuesday, there were 4 choices for this term's main series: Samurai Champloo, Bakemonogatari, The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi and The Big O. After several rounds of democracy, Bakemonogatari emerged victorious and it will be our main series for the first half of term (as it is only a 15 episode series). After we finish Bakemonogatari, we will be having another vote to determine what to watch for the second half.

Another point on the agenda are Exec elections! The society will run elections for exec positions this term, most likely around week 5 (though the date hasn't been set in stone yet). If you are interested in becoming an exec, we'll have more information for you soon!

Hope to see you all next week for Bakemonogatari ep02-04!
